County swimmers pick up 12 more wins at Age Group State meet

The Indiana Swimming Age Group State meet finished Sunday at the IU Natatorium as it began, with many Hamilton County victories.

Local swimmers picked up 12 wins among the events on the third and final day of the meet. Fishers Area Swimming Tigers’ Grace Gannon was a double winner by taking the Girls 10 and under 50 backstroke and 100 butterfly, and Carmel Swim Club’s Trent Allen also picked up two wins, in the Boys 13-14 200 backstroke and 200 freestyle.

Four additional Carmel swimmers were winners: Kate Allen (Girls 10 and under 200 free), Eddy Zhu (Boys 13-14 800 free), Ellie Clarke (Girls 13-14 200 backstroke) and Madelyn Yonkus (Girls 11-12 50 backstroke). Carmel also won three relays, starting with the Girls 10 and under 200 free relay, then swept the Girls and Boys 13-14 400 free relays.

Fishers’ Grace Parsons won the Girls 13-14 1500 free.

In the team standings, Carmel won the meet with 3,290 points, while FAST was second with 1,534 points.
