With the high school girls basketball season finished, the post-season awards are coming in.
Hamilton County is well-represented on these various lists, especially the teams from Class 4A state champion Hamilton Southeastern. Three Royals players were recognized on the Indiana Basketball Coaches Association’s All-State lists, which were released earlier this week.
Amaya Hamilton was named to the IBCA/Subway Senior All-State “Supreme 15” list, which recognized the best seniors across the state. Hamilton, who is headed to Duquesne University, averaged 11.7 points and 6.6 rebounds per game for the Royals.
Four county seniors were named to the Honorable Mention list: Reagan Hune (Carmel), Malea Jackson (Hamilton Southeastern), Mallory Johnson (Noblesville) and Maddie Knight (Noblesville).
Meanwhile, the IBCA/Subway Underclass All-State team features two county players on its “Supreme 15,” Southeastern junior Sydney Parrish and University junior Lindsey Syrek.

Syrek helped the Trailblazers to their first regional championship since 2009, in addition to a second straight sectional and Pioneer Conference title. Syrek averaged a double-double of 17.5 points and 11.2 rebounds per game, as well as 5.0 blocks per contest.
Underclassmen earning Honorable Mention were Fishers sophomore Katie Burton, Westfield freshman Alyssa Crockett and Hamilton Heights junior Bayleigh Runner.

The Junior All-Stars will play two games against the Kentucky Junior All-Stars, tentatively set for June 1 at a Kentucky site and June 3 at an Indiana site. The Junior All-Stars also will play one game against the Indiana All-Star senior girls on June 5, also at a site to be announced. All three games will be doubleheaders with the 2019 Indiana boys Junior All-Stars, who will be chosen during March.
The players listed as core group players will play in all three games. The players listed in the Red, White and Blue groups each will play in one game, the assignment for specific games to be announced.
The Indiana senior All-Stars will play the Kentucky senior All-Stars on June 7 at a site in Kentucky that has not yet been announced. The Indiana senior All-Stars will play Kentucky’s seniors again on June 8 in Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis. The Junior All-Star team is determined by the 20-member Indiana Basketball Coaches Association all-state panel in conjunction with its selection of the IBCA/Subway Underclass All-State Team. The selection process allows all IBCA-member head coaches to nominate players through the IBCA all-state process. Representatives from 16 regional areas from across the state, three district representatives from the three IHSAA districts (one each from District 1, District 2 and District 3) and the committee chair then meet to review the nominations, vote and finalize the selections.
The IBCA/Subway girls basketball Senior All-State and Underclass All-State teams for 2019 will be released later this week.
