County Election Board meeting recap

The Hamilton County Election Board took steps on Wednesday to put the question of the joining of Adams Township and Sheridan on the November ballot. The voter threshold is 50 percent plus one vote in the town and 50 percent plus one vote in the unincorporated portions of the township, totaled separately.

The ballot question next goes to the Indiana Department of Local Government Finance for approval.

New precincts will be set up after approval by the County Commissioners to have a seven-man board. The new board will start in January 2025 with five elected officials from the town and two from the Township board until their terms expire.

A complaint was filed regarding potential election law violation by Republican Lt. Governor candidate Micah Beckwith because of his affiliation with Life Church. The Election Board found no violations of the law.

Hamilton County Democratic Party Chair Jocelyn Vare requested that the Noblesville Life Church polling location move, claiming Beckwith would influence voters by being the pastor there. However, according to the Board, Vare was unable to offer an alternate site.
