Dear Editor:

In today’s political climate, it can be hard to find something that both parties agree on. But my Hamilton County GOP counterpart and I do agree on a few things he said in his Letter to the Editor from last week.

“The upcoming election is a crucial moment for our community.”

It really is. Across the county, for the first time in recent history, voters have a choice. In fact, a majority of voters have multiple choices.

“I cannot stress enough how important it is for each of us to vote on or before Nov. 7.”

Again, we agree. Local elections impact our daily lives more directly than national ones. Is there a pothole on your daily commute that needs to be filled? Have you enjoyed visiting the new Geist waterpark that’s minutes away? Do you use the wonderful services at the libraries across the county? Local offices influence all of these and more in a variety of ways.

“The Democrats in Hamilton County see this as their opportunity to turn Hamilton County blue.”

Actually, the Democrats in Hamilton County see this as an opportunity to bring balance to our cities. To amplify your voice. To return representation to voters. In this year’s uncontested primary election, 47 percent of Fishers ballots requested were for Democrats. That tells me that voters are looking for balance.

“Let’s turn out strong in Hamilton County!”

Your vote matters in this election. Many recent local elections were decided by a handful of votes – visit NeverSkipAVote.org to see just how close.

Vote early if you can, or on Nov. 7. You can find locations and hours for early voting and Election Day at IndianaVoters.com.

We’re ready to look ahead. To become a community with leaders who are reflective of us all. To embrace and welcome diversity of thought. To move forward, together.
