Coroner welcomes two new deputies to department

Hamilton County Coroner John Chalfin recently welcomed the addition of two new deputy coroners: Bruce Gipson and Ashley Taylor.

Gipson, a Westfield resident, comes to the coroner’s office after serving nearly 11 years as a police officer in Cobb County, Ga., and in Carmel. In addition, Gipson worked 14 years as a firefighter/paramedic for the Carmel Fire Department, during which time he served as a SWAT paramedic for the Carmel Police Department. Gipson’s paramedic experience also includes one year with Cicero Fire Department. Gipson has an associate’s degree in Paralegal Studies and a bachelor’s degree in Fire Administration and Fire Investigation.

Taylor, a Madison County resident, is a certified Medical-Legal Death Investigator with 11 years of experience with the Madison County Coroner’s office prior to joining Hamilton County. Taylor has also served as a volunteer firefighter with Center Township in Muncie, EMT with Lifeline and Pendleton Fire Department, and as a funeral director.
