Last Sunday, Sept. 15, the Town of Cicero honored Jerry and Nancy Cook for their years of service to the community by dedicating two park benches in their honor. The celebration was held prior to the Police, Firefighters and Street Department spaghetti fundraiser hosted by the Friends of the Park.

Prayer was given by Cicero Clerk Treasurer Rhonda Gary, a proclamation from the Cicero Town Board was read by Cicero Project Manager & Park Board member Dan Strong, a bench dedication plaque was read by Administrative Assistant Sarah Millis Park, and flowers were presented to Nancy and daughters Renea McKinney and Robin Pennington by Jackie Hayden and Amy Wolfe of Friends of the Park & Lights Over Morse.

Hamilton County Councilman Steve Nation and Indiana State Police Superintendent Doug Carter spoke about Jerry’s impact on Cicero.

At the end of the ceremony, Superintendent Carter presented Jerry Cook with the Sagamore of the Wabash award.

Thank you to Mary Sue Devlin and Terri Strong for making the cake for the celebration.

The idea for this celebration began last year thanks to Donny Nygaard and Park Superintendent Jim Hunter.
