Gov. Eric Holcomb ceremonially signed legislation co-authored by State Rep. Tony Cook (R-Cicero) into law Tuesday increasing transparency for prospective adoptive and foster parents.
According to Cook, this new law requires adoption agencies to provide prospective adoptive and foster parents with a report containing contact information of agency employees. Cook said he hopes this report will provide applicants multiple avenues to voice concerns, ask questions and receive feedback during the adoption or fostering process.
“All children deserve to grow up in a safe and loving place to call home,” Cook said. “Ensuring those looking to adopt or foster a child are fully informed and can voice their questions or concerns can help encourage more Hoosiers to welcome a child in need to their home.”
