Hamilton Heights High School’s leadership team, in collaboration with incredible support from around the community and beyond, announced that it will hold both prom and after-prom on Thursday, June 3. Over the past year and a half, so much has been taken away and lost that this was something the school corporation felt should take place for the students who had been preparing and planning for the May prom event.
The owners of Maple Lane Pavilion, a beautiful local venue, has graciously offered to host the Hamilton Heights prom, free of charge, from 8 to 11 p.m., to show their support for our students and community. After prom will be held at Bowl 32 in Noblesville. The event will run from midnight to 2 a.m., and the cost is free to students.
All students need to do is to show their original prom ticket upon entering that evening. For those who choose not to attend (for any reason), they can 1) request a full refund or 2) donate the cost of their ticket(s) to Kalen Hart’s memorial fund.
The owner of Louie’s Tux Shop, headquartered in South Bend, said that after hearing what happened they felt called to reach out and generously offer tux rental free of charge to any Hamilton Heights student attending prom.
- Everett Light Career Center has volunteered to send its cosmetology instructors on June 3 to provide hair services for students, also free of charge.
In addition, at the end of the evening on June 3 prior to heading off to the after-prom event, students will have the opportunity to participate in a sky lantern glow. Students will be able to write a memory, wish, quote, or hope for the future on their lantern. This time will be used to honor and recognize the trials they have overcome as individuals and as a class to celebrate looking forward to the future. The lanterns will be lighted together as a show of solidarity and will be released over the fields.
A statement from the school district said:
“Our hearts are full in the love and generosity of so many who have come together to help our students and community navigate this tragedy while making it possible to provide a traditional milestone event for our junior/senior students this year.”
