Clayton Ray Nix

September 30, 1927 – February 1, 2020

Clayton was born to Claira Mae (Gasser) Nix and William Eugene Nix in Spencer County, Ind.

As Clayton was growing up, he dreamed of “seeing the world.” He enlisted in the Air Force and served from 1955 to 1959.

He married Virginia Karen Spencer from Spencer, Ind., in 1961. They were married for 58 years and have two children.

Clayton worked as an Engineer for the Pennsylvania Railroad before starting a successful trucking company that still exists today.

He loved to fish, hunt and travel in their RV. Clayton belonged to the Masons for 58 years, was involved in politics and was a loving father.

Clayton is survived by his wife, Virginia; daughter, Rhonda (Nix) Wilson (Jerry) Mickler; their son, Clayton, wife, Sandi; and grandchildren, Spencer (Tracy) Wilson, Noah and Logan; and two great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, Clayton would hope that you donate to your favorite charity.

A visitation will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 15 at the Smith House, 444 Lafayette Road, Noblesville.
