Jerrald Hawkins showed his American pride this 4th of July by mowing “USA” into his yard on Main Street in Cicero. Grassroots American support at its finest! The Reporter found it an appropriate image to capture when flying around before the fireworks at Lights Over Morse Lake. By the time the show began, this yard was filled with fireworks fans. Thousands of people turned out for the fireworks display. The Reporter wants to give special thanks to Cicero’s fire and police departments and the Jackson Township’s fire department for all their help arranging for us to take to the air in a safe way this 4th of July. Additionally, Chris and Rusty Miller are the best guides and points of contact we could hope for. (Photos provided by 4th Hawk Consulting)
The Lights Over Morse Lake Festival ran from July 1 to July 4 and included a carnival, complete with 10 midway games and 12 rides. Paul Huesman, who runs the carnival, was enjoying the second year at the Lights festival. His carnival travels the state at 20 venues. Huesman called the Lights Over Morse Lake committee, “Great people to work with, and Greg Bowman is exceptionally good. They treat us like gold. They are happy to have us here and we are happy to be here.” The festival’s climax was, of course, the fireworks display Tuesday night. It drew a huge crowd both on land and water.
