Christy Cay Clinton

May 19, 1961 – October 5, 2023

Christy Cay Clinton, 62, Fishers, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 5, 2023, ending her long and valiant battle with cancer. Christy wished to share a note: “I sincerely thank all of my family and friends for keeping me alive as long as you did.”

She was born on May 19, 1961, to Russell Clinton & Diana (Michener) Clinton in Indianapolis. Christy was a proud graduate of Indiana University in Bloomington where she earned bachelor’s degrees in German and French.

She was loyal to any job she had – company and coworkers. After college, she worked in Chicago selling vacuum cleaners for a while. Then, she worked in the international call center for FedEx, which is the company that brought her back to Indy when promoted to a managerial position. She also edited books at For Dummies, A Wiley Brand and was a Purchasing Specialist for 3M. Her last position was as a Procurement Agent for Ascension.

She enjoyed learning and was a member of MENSA. She learned several languages and daily refreshed her skills to speak and read them on her phone app. She loved traveling and visited several European countries. Just a year ago, she was finally able to go to a “bucket list” destination, Oberammergau, and experience the Passion Play that is performed by villagers every 10 years.

In her younger years, she was an avid skydiver. She loved being with family and friends whether it was just relaxing and enjoying time or celebrating an event. She was a member of several wine clubs and enjoyed going wine tasting, experiencing new restaurants, or revisiting a favorite one.

At an early age, she played violin and took acting lessons. That sparked a lifelong passion for community theatre. She participated in almost all aspects of theatre – acting, stage crew, stage managing, directing, building, decorating, lighting, and sound. She was active with several theatres including Mud Creek, Christian Youth Theatre, and also stage-managed for the Encore Association awards night. For many years, she was active at the Belfry Theatre, where she served on the Board and the Director Committee. She had been nominated for an Encore Award for shows in which she participated. She was also a founding member of Improbable Fiction Theatre Company.

She is survived by her brother, Russell (Juliana Burrell) Clinton; stepsister, Karen (Roger) Chaudion; uncles, Jay (Angela) Michener and Cort (Chris) Michener; and several cousins, nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her stepmothers, Pamela (Smith) Neves and Nancy (James) Clinton; and her stepbrother, Brian Tescher.

A celebration of life will be held at 4 p.m., with visitation beginning at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, November 15, 2023, at Noblesville First United Methodist Church, 2051 Monument St., Noblesville. A private family burial will be held at Carmel Cemetery at a future date.

Please also come and share a meal with us, which will be served at the church immediately following the service.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a contribution to The Salvation Army, (salvationarmyusa.org/usn).
