Christine Anne (Chance) Heald

March 24, 1968 – October 7, 2024

Christine Anne (Chance) Heald, 56, Fishers, passed away peacefully into glory with her heavenly Father on Monday, October 7, 2024. A joyful, loving wife, mother, grandma, sister, sister-in-law, and aunt, Christine was born on March 24, 1968, at the IU Med Center in Indianapolis, the same hospital where she would later have both of her liver transplants and where she went to meet her Lord and Savior, Jesus.

Growing up Christine enjoyed working with animals any chance she got. She was deeply involved in the 4-H swine project, and was even the 1986 Hamilton County Pork Queen. She also enjoyed riding her horse, Champ, around the yard and with her neighbors.

She graduated from Westfield High School in 1986 where she was a member of the high school volleyball team and in the National Honor Society.

She later went on to attend Purdue University where she would receive her Bachelor’s degree in Restaurant and Hotel Management in 1992.

After her time at Purdue, Christine worked at the Holiday Inn in Indianapolis where she met her husband, Brett. They have been married for 25 years. Christine was also a study manager at Methodist hospital for a short time, a job that she took great pride in helping others who faced a similar situation that she did.

If you knew Christine personally, you knew she was the bravest, strongest fighter you’d ever met. At the young age of 20, Chris was diagnosed with a rare degenerative liver disease. In 1989, she had two liver transplants within just 10 days of each other, a procedure that was very new in the medical field at the time. She also battled colon cancer as well as other health complications throughout her lifetime.

Her life was often filled with pain, yet when you got to know her it was evident that she never let that define who she was. She always had a warm, welcoming smile on her face with anyone she came in contact with. Christine never met a stranger. In fact, she had built a lot of very close and deep friendships with the nurses, doctors, and even the pharmacists she routinely worked with.

Christine’s divine display of perseverance and courage brings hope that even in the suffering and the hurting, if your faith is in Christ there is nothing to fear.

“Though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death I will fear no evil: for thou art with me” – Psalm 23:4

Christine is survived by her husband, Brett Heald; her daughter, Andrea Heald, Nathan Leamer, and her granddaughter, Octavia Leamer; brother, David Chance and his wife, Jill Chance, and their daughters, Nicole Hall and her husband Jonathan, Jenna Seltzer and her husband Garrett.

Christine is preceded in death in 2015 by her father, Ronald Eugene Chance, Ph.D., and her mother, Carolyn (Joyce) Allen Chance, in 2021.

Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m., with services at 2 p.m., on Sunday, October 13, 2024, at Randall & Roberts Funeral Center, 1685 Westfield Road, Noblesville. Burial will follow at Summit Lawn Cemetery in Westfield.

Please join us in Christine’s celebration of a new life and a new body in Heaven!

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Donate Life Indiana, a group promoting organ tissue and donation.
