Chaucie’s Place appoints Margaret Blandford

Executive Director Dr. Jack Powell announced the appointment of Margaret Blandford to the Smart Steps Program Specialist position at Chaucie’s Place.

Blandford

Margaret holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Marian University, with minors in Peace and Justice Studies and Pastoral Leadership. She is currently pursuing a Masters in Social Work, which she expects to complete in May 2018. Her professional experiences include employment with a community mental health center as a school-based skills trainer. She has also worked in a residential group home with pregnant and parenting teen mothers.

Reflecting on her new assignment, she stated, “I am thrilled and honored to be joining such a passionate team as a Smart Steps Program Specialist! In my previous professional experience, I have worked with child and teen survivors of sexual abuse and assault in programs that encouraged healing and empowerment. I am excited to now focus my energy on education and prevention regarding these types of abuse.”

Smart Steps: A Body Safety Program for Children™ is a child sexual abuse prevention and education program that teaches elementary school-aged children that their bodies belong to them; they have the right to say “NO!” to unwanted touches from anyone; to tell an adult about any touches that make them uncomfortable; and we assure students that abuse is never, ever their fault.

Chaucie’s Place is a nonprofit child advocacy organization that works to prevent child sexual abuse and youth suicide through prevention programs for children, adults and school systems.
