Charles David “Chuck” Hobson

December 30, 1956 – October 5, 2021

Charles David “Chuck” Hobson, 64, Sheridan, peacefully passed away surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday afternoon, October 5, 2021, at Compassus Hospice in Indianapolis.  Born December 30, 1956 in Noblesville, he was the son of Harold and Norma Janiece (Baird) Hobson.

Chuck was a 1975 graduate of Sheridan High School.  It was during those years that the 6’ 5” basketball player would lead the Blackhawks in field goal percentage, a record that he held for many years.  After graduation he continued with his education, earning his Associates Degree in Business from Indiana Business College.  Chuck worked as a machinist for various companies throughout his 40-year career, including Tech Tool, which he proudly owned and operated.

He was a member of the Fishers Indiana Post 470 Sons of the American Legion.

Chuck was a man who enjoyed the simple things in life.  He was an avid dart player and loved to hit the road on his Harley every chance he could.  He looked forward to and remembered fondly the years he was able to make it out to Sturgis.

Family was a very important part of Chuck’s life.

He is survived by his mother, Norma Janiece (Baird) Hobson of Sheridan; son, Charles D. Hobson, Jr. (Cindy) of Seymour, Ind.; daughters, Melissa Hobson Grimes of Sheridan, and Tabby Thomas (Brett) of Mooresville; nine grandchildren, Matthew Bowman, Brianna Basler, Austin Basler (Korde), Hailey Hobson, Alex Hobson, Reed Hobson, Logan Thomas, Luke Thomas, and Lincoln Thomas; one great-grandchild, Brantley Bowman; brothers, Stephen Allen Hobson (Joyce) of Sheridan, and Gerald Wayne “Jerry” Hobson (Anita) of Arcadia; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Harold Hobson; sister, Peggy Darlene Hobson; paternal grandparents, Alva K. and Minnie (Johnson) Hobson; and maternal grandparents, Ola Ernest and Theresa Elizabeth (Moore) Baird.

Services were held on Monday, October 11, 2021, at Kercheval Funeral Home, 306 E. 10th St., Sheridan, with Visitation prior to the time of Service. Burial will followed at Spencer Cemetery in Sheridan.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be presented to the American Cancer Society, or the charity of one’s choice.
