The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) will hold a public hearing on Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2018, with a formal presentation beginning at 6 p.m., at the Hazel Dell Elementary School Cafeteria, 3025 Westfield Road, Noblesville, to present proposed plans for a State Road 32 redesign.
The project proposes to widen the existing lanes and add a second westbound travel lane on SR 32 in the project area to match the five lanes existing east of the project.
The overall project proposes added travel and turn lanes between Cicero Creek and State Road 38 west junction.
West of the River Road intersection, the outside westbound lane will become a right turn lane serving two major commercial entrance drives. A northbound right turn lane will be added at the River Road intersection and a westbound right turn lane will be added at the SR 38 intersection. The turning radius will be increased in the northeast corner at SR 32/River Road. In addition, new sidewalks and a new closed storm sewer will be added to SR 32 between River Road and SR 38, and replacement of two traffic signals. The project will require 0.15 acre of new permanent right of way. In addition, temporary right of way will be needed for the reconstruction of driveways along the project.
The project will require lane closures but no detours will be required for SR 32 through traffic. Emergency services and school corporations would be contacted prior to the reduction and/or closure of travel lanes. While motorists will likely encounter delays, the phased construction will allow access to local businesses and Riverview Health hospital during construction.
