The Center for the Performing Arts is gearing up for the most robust and diverse season in its history, starting in September with more than 50 performances already booked and more on the way.
The 2022-23 Center Presents Season sponsored by Allied Solutions includes new faces and returning favorites in a broad range of genres.
Making their Palladium debuts this year are the iconic West African singer Angélique Kidjo, R&B giants Trombone Shorty and Tower of Power, jazz-pop pioneer Herb Alpert with vocalist Lani Hall, Marie Osmond with an orchestra for the holidays, the Lviv National Philharmonic Orchestra of Ukraine, a New Orleans music celebration led by Dumpstaphunk, tributes to Ella Fitzgerald and Electric Light Orchestra, and comedians Lewis Black and Kevin Nealon, part of a growing list of comedy events.
Artists returning to the Center include legendary crooner Johnny Mathis, jazz diva Diana Krall, Hoosier-born violin virtuoso Joshua Bell, trumpeter Chris Botti, pop-soul belter Michael Bolton, saxophonist Boney James, songsmiths Marc Cohn and Shawn Colvin, Scott Bradlee’s Postmodern Jukebox and the U.S. Army Field Band with a free community concert.
“We’re making a statement with our upcoming 12th season,” said Jeffrey C. McDermott, President/CEO of the Center and the affiliated Great American Songbook Foundation. “Nothing can replace the experience of gathering together for live arts and entertainment, and this lineup should give everyone a reason to come and join us at the Center.”
Among the new offerings this season is a speaker series featuring experts from the pages of National Geographic, sharing their knowledge of wildlife and exotic corners of the world. Each of the three multimedia evening presentations is preceded by a free morning matinee for local students.
