Celebrating public education in Hamilton County

Indiana Association of Public Education Foundations announces first Indiana Public Education Foundation Day

The Indiana Association of Public Education Foundations (INAPEF) announces the first Indiana Public Education Foundation Day, a groundbreaking initiative to celebrate the critical contributions of public education foundations in supporting academic achievement and student well-being.

Scheduled for the second Tuesday of February each year, this special day highlights the vital role that education foundations play in raising private dollars to fund local school district initiatives not covered by public funding. While each foundation’s mission is unique, all share a commitment to prioritizing student and staff well-being and fostering innovative opportunities to help students learn and prepare for future success.

“The first annual Indiana Public Education Foundation Day marks an exciting milestone,” INAPEF Board President Jennifer Rakow said. “We celebrate the incredible work of education foundations across Indiana, whose efforts provide students with the tools, resources, and experiences to achieve their dreams. Together, we are shaping brighter futures.”

Westfield Education Foundation Executive Director Ashley Knott said the day is about thanking people who make public education work.

“Our education foundations are the heart of their communities, connecting donors, volunteers, and partners with schools to meet critical needs,” Knott said. “This first annual day of recognition gives us an opportunity to celebrate their tireless efforts and the profound impact they have on students statewide.”

INAPEF recognizes these organizations as essential in addressing funding gaps while ensuring students and educators thrive. Their success depends on the collective efforts of community partners, generous donors, and dedicated volunteers.

As part of this inaugural celebration, INAPEF invites everyone to learn more about their local education foundations, support their initiatives, and join in honoring the transformative work these organizations accomplish across Indiana.
