On Feb. 11 and 12 at the Noblesville High School Auditorium, En Pointe Indiana Ballet will bring to the stage a fantastical steampunk science fiction love story set in the romantic Victorian era featuring a synthesis of dance genres, peculiar characters and breathtaking artistic entertainment.
Curiosity, the annual original performance of the Noblesville-based dance school, is inspired by Cirque du Soleil and features the perfect blend of curious surprises and a fast-paced playful score.
“Due to the pandemic, it’s been two years since Curiosity has been performed on stage for an in-person audience,” said En Pointe Indiana Ballet Co-Artistic Director Robert Moore. “Last year, we pivoted to the historic Diana Theatre in Tipton with a very special cinematic version of Curiosity filmed and produced by Caleb Blair, owner of Magnum Veritas Productions, LLC. This year, we’re thrilled to be back on stage and bringing one of our most beloved annual performances to Central Indiana just in time for Valentine’s weekend.”
Curiosity is a jazz-inspired piece set in the romantic Victorian era, where the Industrial Revolution was new and fantastical. The original piece is En Pointe’s own take on the fantasy world of steampunk science fiction and showcases all genres of dance including modern, swing, contemporary, jazz and tap. The 2022 performance features two fantastical acts, over 60 dancers and local aerialist, Taylor Moss.
“We can’t wait to entertain audiences this February,” Moore said. “Curiosity is always evolving from year to year with new elements, choreography, costuming and dramatic theatrical face and body paint by local artist Tabitha Wilbanks. It is an exhilarating theater experience for all audiences and ages – a date night, a friends outing, a family-fun excursion or even a solo night out treat.”
Curiosity premieres at 7 p.m. on Friday, Feb 11. A matinee performance will take place at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 12. Tickets are available at enpointe.yapsody.com.

Again?
For a ballet studio, they sure do spend a lot if time staging productions that are only lightly infused with ballet.
It would be refreshing to see this studio perform some new material. This is the fourth or fifth time they have done Curiosity… in as many years… and it bears a striking resemblance to a Cirque de Soleil production, right down to the music, and other details.
Not exactly an original production, and not interesting, unless large group choreography and minimal character development is your thing.
I do applaud the students hard work, but I would imagine they would be as happy as the audience to have sonething fresh to put on stage.
Maybe next year.
En Pointe Indiana Ballet is an amazing ballet school. I love that they do Curiosity annually. It changes so much from year to year and is a fun love story! It’s so amazing to see all the students technical growth and artistry evolve over the years. Really it’s a perfect Valentine’s weekend date or family night out. It’s super ambitious to do 3 full-length performances a year (PLUS community outreach performances and a summer intensive showcase), especially Curiosity because the directors, choreographers and dancers tackle this breathtaking repertoire in a such short amount of time! Truly they do it beautifully, and I’m so glad we found En Pointe! World-class classical ballet instruction and performances that always leave me in awe! Hope to see you for Curiosity!
I am so excited about this show! Every time I see a show with En Pointe dancers I am blown away!!!
We’re so excited to see the show this weekend and watch all the amazing dancers! Every year the performance is different with new fun twists and surprises. The students and teachers work so hard to give their audience an amazing performance.
