St. Nikolaus is coming to the Carmel Christkindlmarkt this Friday.
This special German traditional event will be in partnership with the IUPUI Max Kade German-American Center and the Indiana German Heritage Society.
In some areas in Germany when St. Nikolaus visits, you don’t sit on his lap and tell him what you would like for Christmas but rather you prepare to honor him. Some children sing a song, dance or even count or say their ABCs. He will then instruct his helper Ruprecht to give the child a gift.
Children will have an opportunity to present their talents to St. Nikolaus from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in the Kinderecke at the Christkindlmarkt. A processional of St. Nikolaus and his helper Ruprecht will begin at 5:30 p.m., followed by a short program on the Christkindlmarkt stage at 5:40 p.m.
Carmel’s Christkindlmarkt runs now through Christmas Eve at Center Green. For more information, visit carmelchristkindlmarkt.com.
