For the fourth year, the Westfield Youth Assistance Program (WYAP) will participate in Giving Tuesday. This year a loyal donor, George Kristo, will match every donation, dollar for dollar, up to $12,500.
Giving Tuesday is a worldwide day of charitable giving that occurs each year on the first Tuesday after Thanksgiving. There is Black Friday, Cyber Monday, and Giving Tuesday, a day set aside for people to transform their communities.
WYAP will use the dollars raised from Giving Tuesday to offer to pay for tutoring for those struggling from being out of in-person classes for a year or for those who just need help. Additionally, the funds will be used to support winter and summer camp participation, support WYAP’s mentoring program, and link youth to critical community support resources like counseling and skills development.
“Every dollar received goes towards changing the life of a young person in need,” said WYAP Board President Steve Latour. “Being able to match those dollars with the generous gift from George Kristo for our annual Giving Tuesday campaign brings us one step closer to giving youth in Westfield every advantage to be successful. Giving to this campaign creates the opportunity for Westfield and Hamilton County neighbors to come together. What we can continue to accomplish together is truly remarkable. I hope we can count on your support.”
