DAR promotes Constitution Week: Sept. 17-23
The Horseshoe Prairie Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution are celebrating the National Celebration of the signing of the U.S. Constitution.
In 1955, the Daughters of the American Revolution petitioned Congress to set aside Sept. 17-23 annually to be dedicated for observance of the U.S. Constitution Week. The resolution was signed into Public Law No. 915 on Aug. 2, 1958, by President Dwight D. Eisenhower for national recognition of the week of Sept. 17-23.
As the United States will be celebrating the 234th year of the ratification of the U.S. Constitution, Noblesville Mayor Chris Jensen has proclaimed the week of Sept. 17-23 as Noblesville’s recognition of this anniversary of the U.S. Constitution.
The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution urges Americans to reflect on the United States Constitution during this month’s annual observance in honor of this foundational document of national governance. They invite everyone to join in celebrating this powerful document, which has enabled our democracy within a republic for more than two centuries.
