Catherine “Mickie” Mary (McDonald) Griffin

Catherine “Mickie” Mary (McDonald) Griffin 91, of Greenwood; formerly of Sheridan, went home to her Lord on Thursday, April 27, 2017.

She was born in Ovid, New York on September 24, 1925 to the late John and Kathleen (Dowling) McDonald. She worked as an accountant at Fort Harrison Finance Center, retiring in 1988. For many years, Mickie was an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Cicero, where she served as a Eucharist Minister until moving to the Hearth at Stones Crossing in Greenwood, Indiana in 2008 due to declining health.

Mickie loved God’s creation and enjoyed being outdoors, gardening, bird watching or just gazing at the sky. She was an avid reader and student of the Bible. She passed on many valuable life lesson to her family and friends. but the most important was her trust in the Lord through all of life’s challenges.

Mickie is survived by her daughter Coleen (Chester) Casper of Greenwood. Indiana, son Warren (Susan) Griffin of Sheridan, Indiana, seven grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. She is also survived by sisters; Beatrice Murray, Jeanette Berarducci, and Sheila Abraham, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Mickie was preceded in death by her beloved husband Warren H. Griffin, grandson William John Griffin, siblings Arlene McDonald, Peggy (McDonald) Iannopollo, and Thomas McDonald.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 12:00 p.m. Saturday May 6, 2017 by Father Dale Ehrman at Sacred Heart Catholic Church located at 410 Pearl Street, Cicero, Indiana 46034

Friends and family are invited to gather prior to Funeral Mass from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Spencer Cemetery in Sheridan.
