Westfield Washington Schools (WWS) welcomed Carrie Larrison as a new member of the Board of School Trustees during a swearing-in ceremony at the Jan. 14 meeting.

Larrison brings a wealth of experience in education and community service, embodying the district’s commitment to empowering students and fostering excellence.

At the same meeting, Mike Steele was sworn in for his second term on the Board, reaffirming his leadership and dedication to the Westfield school community. The swearing-in ceremony was led by Andrew Manna of Church Church Hittle + Antrim (CCHA), a law firm specializing in education law and a valued district partner.

Larrison’s extensive background in education and community engagement makes her a valuable addition to the board. A former math teacher and counselor at Westfield Middle School and Westfield High School, she retired in 2020 after a 30-year career with WWS. She has also served as an AP Coordinator, College Board consultant, and Advisory Council member. Beyond her professional contributions, she is an active volunteer with organizations such as the Westfield Lions Club, Open Doors of Westfield, and the Westfield Wellbeing Coalition.

Carrie joins the board alongside the following trustees:

  • Mike Steele, President
  • Rebecca Ogle, Vice President
  • Bill Anderson, Secretary
  • Amber N. Willis, Member

The Board of School Trustees members serve on committees that shape the district’s vision, operations, and priorities. Larrison will represent the district on several key committees, including the Curriculum Committee, Negotiations Committee, and Westfield Redevelopment Commission.

“Even though I am retired from Westfield schools, my passion for ensuring that students and teachers have the best learning and working environment is strong,” Larrison said. “It was an honor to be a staff member of one of the best school corporations in Indiana for 30 years, and I look forward to continuing to serve the school and community as a member of the board.”

Steele has consistently advocated for the district, contributing to its growth and success. His ongoing leadership as president reflects the board’s dedication to fostering innovative education and student achievement.
