Carolyn Sue Pickett, 84, Arcadia, passed away on March 20, 2022, at her home.
She was born on February 24, 1938, in Elwood, Ind., to Hubert and Carol (Brown) Seely. She attended Jackson Township Schools and graduated from Jackson Central High School with the Class of 1956.
Sue, as she was fondly known, married David Allan Pickett on June 1, 1958, and she began her new role as homemaker. They became owners of the Arcadia Hardware Store where David managed the store and Sue was the bookkeeper. She mainly did the bookkeeping at home as she became a mother to three young children.
She was active in her community. She was a member of the Roaring 20’s Extension Homemaker Club and a past president of Hamilton County Extension Homemakers. She was a member of ACT (Arcadia Citizens Together) a support group for the betterment of the town of Arcadia. Sue was also an active member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Arcadia and went on several mission trips to assist others.
Sue enjoyed sewing, knitting, quilting, and collecting Longaberger baskets. During nice weather you could often find her on her front porch visiting with family and friends. She was also known for being a great cook.
Surviving her is a daughter, Denise (Tim) Sicula of Texas; sons, Mark (Mary Rose) Pickett of California, and Russell Pickett of Arcadia; grandchildren, Tim, Brad, Victoria, Andrew, Sawyer, Levi, Nathan, and Grace; plus a great-grandchild, Sloane, and one on the way.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, and a brother, Bill Seely.
Funeral services and visitation were held on Friday, March 25, 2022, at Hartley Funeral Home Cicero Chapel, 209 W. Jackson St., Cicero, with burial following at Arcadia Cemetery.
