The Women’s Big Ten Basketball Tournament is taking place this week at Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis. The University of Iowa has made its way into the semi-finals, beating Purdue 83-72 in Wednesday’s first round and Rutgers 73-62 in a Thursday quarter-final game.
Tomi Taiwo, a Carmel graduate and junior for the Hawkeyes, played significant minutes for Iowa in both games. On Wednesday, Taiwo collected three rebounds for the Hawkeyes against Purdue and handed out one assist in both of Iowa’s tournament games.
Taiwo has played in 19 of the Hawkeyes’ 25 games, averaging 3.8 points and 1.6 rebounds per contest. Taiwo has made 13 3-pointers for the season.
Iowa will play Michigan State today in the semi-finals.
