Ice Miller announced on Tuesday that Maddie Augustus has joined the firm’s Public Affairs Group as Senior Director of Public Affairs. She graduated from Carmel High School and is a Carmel resident.
As a registered lobbyist, Augustus focuses on state legislative and executive branch lobbying on behalf of clients. She works with the firm’s public affairs clients to develop and implement their public policy strategies and works on state and federal government procurement and public and government relations issue management.
“In a practice area which depends on creating and nurturing relationships, few professionals are as personally likeable as Maddie,” said Ice Miller Public Affairs Group Chair and Partner Lawren Mills. “The ability to solve problems while navigating the intersection of business, policy, and politics has always been one of Maddie’s many strengths, and that is why she will make a wonderful addition to our practice group and to Ice Miller.”
Prior to joining Ice Miller, Augustus served as Director of Government Relations for the Insurance Institute of Indiana, where she was responsible for state and local government affairs for the interests of managed care entities, multiple state benefit programs and health insurance companies.
Augustus previously served as a legislative assistant for the Indiana House of Representatives where she had previously staffed the Environmental Affairs Committee. She also served as Director of Community Affairs for a local insurance company where she developed public affairs strategies, cultivated partnerships, and managed philanthropic programs.
Augustus is a member of the Government Affairs Society of Indiana and a member of the Public Policy Working Group for United Way of Central Indiana. She is a graduate of the John Mutz Philanthropic Leadership Institute and the Leadership Indianapolis LEAD program.
Augustus will be based in Indianapolis.
