Carmel’s Nick Frey finished as the runner-up at the Indiana Golf Foundation’s Boys Junior State Championship Friday at Purdue University’s Kampen Course.
Frey, a recent graduate of Brebeuf Jesuit, reached the final by beating Peyton Snoeberger of Williamsport 1 Up in the semi-finals. Frey played the top seed, Lafayette’s Nicholas Hoffman in the final, with Hoffman winning 3 & 2.
Hoffman advanced to the final by defeating Ty Gingerich, a senior-to-be at Guerin Catholic, 2 & 1 in the semi-finals.
HENDERSON PLACES SIXTH AT IWGA STATE AMATEUR
Westfield graduate Cailyn Henderson tied for sixth at the Indiana Women’s Golf Association State Amateur Championship, which finished up Friday at Hillview Country Club in Franklin.
Henderson finished with a three-day score of 225, nine-over par. Henderson carded a two-over 74 in her final round, which helped lift her into the top 10.
