Rain is wreaking havoc with the Indiana Open men’s golf tournament, which is taking place this week at Purdue University.
The tournament began on Monday, but thus far only a few golfers have been able to complete the first two rounds. Despite the weather, there have been some excellent scores posted by excellent golfers.
One of them is Jake Brown. The Carmel graduate, who just finished his redshirt sophomore season at Indiana University, soared into a tie for the lead after the first round, joining two other men with a four-under par 67 after play at the Par 71 Ackerman-Allen Course. Brown had six birdies in his first round.
Richmond’s Brian Maurer also shot a 67 for the first round, but he jumped into the lead after finishing his second round with a four-under par 68 at the Kampen Course, which is a Par 72.
Fishers’ Andrew Winings is currently tied for seventh at two-under par. Winings has a two-round score of 141, with a total of nine birdies.
Johnny Watts, a Hamilton Southeastern graduate and current Ball State star, is tied for 10th at one-under par after his first round of 70, including four birdies. Carmel’s Brad Gehl is also in the 10th-place tie, with four birdies in his first round as well.
Here is a list of Hamilton county scores. Note that scores are expressed in par, as not all players have completed the second round.
