Carmel wins MIC golf championship

The Carmel boys golf team won the Metropolitan Conference championship Monday at Wood Wind Golf Club.
The No. 1-ranked Greyhounds carded a team score of 285, well ahead of Center Grove’s 300. Carmel junior Clay Stirsman was the medalist, scoring a four-under par 67. Nick Dentino had an even-par 71, followed by Luke Prall 73, Jack Crawford 74 and Cole Harris 76. All five players made the All-MIC team.
Team scores: Carmel 285, Center Grove 300, North Central 344, Lawrence North 376, Ben Davis 377, Lawrence Central 434, Warren Central 464, Pike 468.

Fishers won a dual meet Tuesday over Heritage Christian, 155-162 at Gray Eagle Golf Course.
The Tigers were led by co-medalist Caleb Bopp, who scored a 36. Other Fishers scores were Bryce Robertson 37, Dylan O’Daniel 39 and Will Schade 43.
In the junior varsity meet, Fishers won 166-219. Connor McMillan was the medalist with a 40, followed by Matthew Albright’s 41; Albright hit a chip-in birdie from 30 yards out on the seventh hole. Other scores were Dylan Chaudion 42, Owen Munkholm 43, Ryan Witt 44 and Ryan Gausepohl 50.

Westfield won a close three-way 18-hole match at Prairie View on Tuesday.
The Shamrocks scored 324 to Cathedral’s 325 and Zionsville’s 327. Drake Biggs led the Shamrocks with a 79, with Ethan Lutz carding an 80.

Guerin Catholic won a three-team meet with Noblesville and Tipton Tuesday at Pebble Brook.
The fourth-ranked Golden Eagles scored 148 to the No. 2 Millers’ 150 and the Blue Devils’ 167. Noblesville’s Jaxon Stutz was the meet medalist, carding a 33, including an eagle on his last hole. Other Noblesville scores were Clay Merchent 38, Jacob Deakyne 39, Joe Whallon 40, Chris Scheib 40 and Reed Murray 41.
Millers coach Gary Sewell said it “was great to see Jaxon Stutz perform so well” at the meet.
“He has been working on his game and it shows,” said Sewell. “He now knows he’s capable of that kind of play, and we hope this will pay dividends in the future.
“Other than Jaxon we kind of limped in and that cost us.  We have to find a way to play the par 5’s better.  We will work on it and get better.”
Andrew White led Guerin Catholic with a 35, followed by Keaton Modleski 37, Ty Gingerich 38, Ben Burgan 38, Christian Hein 41 and Connor McNeely 45.
Guerin Catholic, Noblesville, Westfield, Carmel and Hamilton Southeastern will all play at the State Preview Meet, which takes place on Saturday at Prairie View.
