Carmel well-represented on spring All-MIC teams

The Metropolitan Conference has announced its All-Conference teams for the Spring 2021 season, and Carmel made a big impact throughout the league in all sports.
The Greyhounds made their biggest impression in the MIC’s All-Conference boys track and field team. Carmel, which won the state championship in boys track, had 13 athletes named as All-Conference, easily the most. Those athletes are: Kole Mathison, Zach Cox, Owen Schafer, Colton Parker, Tommy Maurer, Seth Hutchison, Nolan Ring, Jacob Fisher, Tony Iskander, Drew Willman, Shammah Dosunmu, Will Anderson and Bing Hudson.
At the MIC meet, the Greyhounds won eight events. Cox swept the 110 and 300 hurdles and Mathison was first in the 1600 and 3200 runs. Ring won the discus while Hutchison took the pole vault. Schafer won the 400 dash and joined Parker, Maurer and Cox to place first in the 4×400 relay.
Carmel’s girls track and field team also did well in the MIC, with eight athletes making the All-Conference team: Ellie Marsella, Abbey Grogan, Annie Christie, Claire Swigart, Mahalet Zeruesenay, Jasmine Klopstad, Tristan Barr and Cambell Wamsley. At the MIC meet, Christie won the 1600 and 3200 runs and joined Marsella, Klopstad and Grogan to take the 4×800 relay.
In girls tennis, Carmel took care of the conference meet, winning with a score of 55 points. Center Grove and Lawrence North tied for second place with 31 points each. The state champion Greyhounds had six players make All-Conference: Leila Antony, Nora Perkins, Alexa Lewis, Hallie Reeves, Kaitlyn Conley and Anjali Natarajan.
In baseball, Carmel finished a close second in the conference to Center Grove. The Trojans were 13-1 for the season (their only loss was to Carmel), while the Greyhounds were 12-1-1. Four Carmel players were named to the All-MIC team: Nick Mitchell, JD Rogers, Jackson Micheels and Evan Neukam.
The Greyhounds’ boys golf team finished second at the MIC meet with a 286; Center Grove won with a 274. Three Carmel players earned All-Conference honors: Sam Booth, Shoji Fujita and Owen Sander.
In softball, the Greyhounds finished in a three-way tie for second with Ben Davis and Lawrence North, all of whom had 5-2 records for the season. Center Grove won the MIC title with a 7-0 record. Three Carmel players earned places on the All-MIC team: Megan Nichols, Kylie Cunningham and Ella Ohrvall.
