The summer junior golf championship series made its way into Carmel earlier this week, when the Masters Tour Championship took place Sunday and Monday at Plum Creek Golf Course.
Carmel was well-represented with two golfers finishing in the top 10 of the boys competition. Shoji Fujita, an incoming junior for the Greyhounds, had the highest Hamilton County finish, placing third with a one-under par 143. Fujita carded a 70 (two under par) for his Sunday first round, including five birdies, then had six birdies in the second round.
Nick Katsis, a senior-to-be at Carmel, tied for 10th with a 148. Katsis went one under in the first round with a 71, making five birdies, and drained another one in his second round.
In the girls competition, the Pfefferkorn sisters each finished in the top 10. Christina Pfefferkorn, a sophomore-to-be at Guerin Catholic, carded a 156 to take fifth place, with one birdie in each round. Angelica Pfefferkorn, an incoming senior for the Golden Eagles, finished 10th, also making a birdie in each round.
