This week, the City of Carmel played host to community leaders from Rome, Ga., and Prospect, Ky., on a two-day informational tour of the city with a focus on planning and infrastructure-including the benefits of our 156 roundabouts.

“It’s a pleasure showing off our city and talking about all the hard work it takes to make it the great community it is today,” said David Littlejohn, transportation administrator and ADA coordinator with the Department of Community Services. He served as one of the city guides for the tours.

City department leaders Mike Hollibaugh (Department of Community Services), Henry Mestetsky (Redevelopment Commission), and Bradley Pease (Engineering) joined the tours to share their insights and expertise with the visiting groups.

From improved safety measures on roadways, world-class city services, and beautiful public art, these visitors saw firsthand why Carmel is considered a national leader in city design.

“Both cities were extremely impressed with how beautiful and advanced our city is,” said Transportation Development Coordinator Kevin Whited, who organized the visit. “They are leaving Carmel motivated to institute changes to their own development plans and transportation infrastructure.”
