A busy stretch of Westfield Boulevard will get a fresh new layer of asphalt this week as the City of Carmel Street Department begins its summer paving projects for 2019.
Westfield Boulevard will see occasional restrictions and flag-controlled traffic between 106th and 116th streets, the one-mile stretch that will have two inches of the old asphalt removed and two inches of a fresh layer of asphalt applied.
“This has been an especially hard winter and I am pleased that our Street Department is wasting no time in getting out and taking the necessary steps to keep our streets in excellent condition,” said Mayor Jim Brainard. “The quality of our streets is one of the many factors that make Carmel such a wonderful place to live and work. It is vital to our small business community, which relies on a good roadway network to get products and customers to their places of business.”
The Westfield Boulevard project is expected to be completed in two days, weather permitting. Last month, the Street Department released its list of paving projects for the 2019 summer construction season. Click here to view the list.
