The Carmel girls golf team placed second at the 18-team Roncalli Invitational Saturday at Smock Golf Course.
Zionsville won the meet with a team score of 300, followed by the Greyhounds with 318. Katie Kuc and Nina Hecht both scored 78s for Carmel, tying them for ninth place individually. Ava Hedrick and Elizabeth Hedrick both carded 81s. Sydney Longstreth scored 82 and Ella Woods had an 84.
“It was a muggy day with soggy conditions, but the ladies were able to grind out a second-place finish,” said ‘Hounds coach Kelly Kluesner.
Westfield finished fourth with a 324. Jocelyn Bruch tied for third individually with a 74. Grace Snyder tied for 10th with a 79. Other Shamrock scores were Natalie Shupe 81, Megan Barker 90, Brette Hanavan 92 and Cate Jensen 100.
Guerin Catholic finished with a team score of 390. Mckayla Tallman scored 80, followed by Sophie McGinnis 88, Anna Green 111, Audrey Kunce 111 and Jenna Rust 115.

Westfield’s junior varsity team placed third at the Western Boone Invitational Saturday.
The Shamrocks scored 343, behind only Brownsburg’s 314 and Tipton’s 327. Avery Brooks led Westfield with a 79, followed by Alli McAvoy 85, Allie Hildebrand 89, Mallory Martl 90 and Claire Ireland 95.
Hamilton Heights played at the tournament, scoring a 402. Ellie Arrowood carded a 95 to lead the Huskies, followed by Kate Biggs 96, Alyx Harley 98, Rebekah Steffen 113 and Elizabeth Havron 122.
