Carmel Symphony Orchestra musicians visit Sycamore School

Photos provided

As part of the Carmel Symphony Orchestra’s educational initiatives, three of its musicians visited some first-graders at the Sycamore School in Indianapolis for an instrument “Petting Zoo,” where the students could learn more about string instruments. Students were able to take turns playing each of the instruments, which were half- to quarter-size versions to accommodate younger children. Joining the students last Friday, May 9, were Jan Brill, assisting with the cello, Karen Hutchins helping with the viola, and Kris Zaloudek sharing the violin. It is CSO’s hope that this early childhood exposure to these instruments may spark a lifelong love of classical music for these children.
