Beginning on or after Monday, Oct. 24, the Carmel Street Department will begin a road rejuvenation project with contractor Rejuvtec in the following areas:
- West 141st Street – Spring Mill Road to Shelborne Road
- East 122nd Street – Medalist Parkway to River Road
- College Meadows – Entire subdivision
- West Road – West 131st Street to West 121st Street
The process involves the application of a pink-hued asphalt rejuvenation product to the roads followed by a thin layer of sand which is swept up the next day. Preventative maintenance on roadways extends the life of the asphalt; this product replaces oils that are dried from the pavement by the heat of manufacturing and the sun. The product seals and rejuvenates pavement so it’s weather resistant.
Traffic delays are expected to be minimal but there will be a noticeable adjustment to the traffic pattern. If you are a resident in the College Meadows subdivision, you will receive a yellow door hanger with instructions pertaining to the asphalt treatment.
