The Carmel softball team split a pair of games at the Louisville Super Preps tournament Friday night.
The Greyhounds beat Jeffersontown 6-2. Carmel scored twice in the first inning, with Sarah Goddard hitting a double to send Stormy Kotzelnick home. Darby Roberts then hit a double to score Goddard.
The ‘Hounds put the game away with four runs in the top of the seventh. Megan Nichols’ double sent Ariana Zdboylak home, then Kotzelnick hit a home run, scoring herself and Nichols. Roberts hit a single to score Goddard, who had gotten base with a triple.
Kotzelnick and Roberts both were 3-for-4 at the plate. Sommer Edwards pitched a complete game, striking out seven.
Carmel fell to Louisville Ballard 6-2 in its second game. The Greyhounds scored both of their runs in the top of the seventh inning; Nichols sent a homer over the left field fence, then Goddard’s double scored to get Kotzelnick home.
Roberts was 3-for-3 for the game, with Kotzelnick and Sophia Derziotis each getting two hits.
Carmel is 2-6 and will play Lebanon (Ohio) this morning as they continue play in Louisville.
