Carmel set to commemorate end of World War II

The City of Carmel will commemorate The Greatest Generation’s Greatest Day, the 75th Anniversary of the end of World War II, at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 14, at Carmel Clay Veterans Memorial Plaza, 800 3rd Ave. SW, across from The Center for the Performing Arts.

Brainard

Carmel Mayor Jim Brainard will commemorate the day with a wreath laying at the foot of the Veterans Memorial Statue. City officials encourage the public to spread out their visits throughout the day. Limited carnations will be available to place at the statue. Due to COVID-19, anyone that attends will be asked to physically distance and wear a face covering.

It is important to celebrate how the successful conclusion of World War II preserved our Republic, the freedoms guaranteed under our Constitution and our culture from those who were intent on destroying western civilization.
