Carmel Runners Club (CRC), a local 501‐(c)(3) charity dedicated to helping Hamilton County become more active through running and walking, announces the selection of five outstanding seniors to receive a $1,000 scholarship to help them with their pursuit of a college degree.
The application announcement was released in April 2022 and the CRC Scholarship Committee reviewed 17 high-quality applications for the scholarships. Applicants’ criteria for consideration included school grades, an essay on the impact of running and a healthy lifestyle in their life, and recommendation letters.
After careful consideration, the following high school seniors were selected as the 2022 recipients:
- Zoe Dinius – Noblesville High School, to attend Taylor University
- Jamie Klavon – Carmel High School, to attend Xavier University
- Hannah Pensyl – Westfield High School, to attend Purdue University
- Parker Provost – Westfield High School, to attend University of Southern Indiana
- Sydney Smith – Guerin Catholic, to attend Purdue University
“We are so pleased to be able to help these outstanding student athletes with their pursuit of a college education,” CRC Scholarship Committee Chair Norm Campbell said. “It is so great to be part of an organization that focuses on helping with community health but also supporting education of our youth.”
In the 10‐year history of the Carmel Runners Club, over $20,000 in scholarships have been awarded to local students.
