Carmel road construction updates

Walnut Street & Range Line Road Roundabout

Roundabout No. 140 is now open to traffic. The public is invited for a celebration at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 22 west of the intersection on Walnut Street. Please use caution in the area as crews continue to work on improvements to Range Line Road.

111th Street & College Avenue Roundabout

Construction of this new roundabout will begin on or after Sept. 27 with an expected 45-day closure.

Duke Transmission on Veterans Way

On or after Sept. 20, the Duke Transmission line project will continue on Veterans Way between West Elm Street and Main Street. Expect full closures of Veterans Way, block by block, throughout the next couple of months starting with the section between Elm and 1st streets. Then, on or after Sept. 27, there will be a full closure of the intersection at 1st Street SW and Veterans Way, which will last approximately 75 days.

Monon Greenway Traffic Detour

The reconstruction of the Monon crossing at 1st Street NW is still underway. Included with this work is a raised crosswalk at 1st Street NW, new drainage work, new sidewalk and curbs, and limited repaving of the Monon Greenway north and south of the crossing. During this construction, the Monon is closed from Main Street to 3rd Street NW. Monon Greenway users will be diverted on to the adjacent roadway, 2nd Ave NW. Click here for a detour map.

116th Street over White River

Please be advised, beginning on or after Monday, Sept. 20, lane closures will be in effect for 116th Street between River Road and Eller Road for the rehabilitation of the 116th Street bridge over the West Fork of the White River. One lane of traffic in each direction will be maintained at all times on 116th Street throughout construction. Lane closures are expected to be lifted by Tuesday, Nov. 9. Click here for more information.

146th Street over U.S. 31

Beginning at 9 p.m. or after on Sunday, Sept. 19, one lane at a time along 146th Street at the U.S. 31 overpass will be restricted for spot pavement grinding. The estimated project completion time is by 6 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 20.
