Veterans Way & Main Street
The final phase of the burial of transmission lines has begun in the Carmel Arts & Design District and has forced the temporary closure of a half-block stretch of Veterans Way, south of Main Street.
The transmission burial project began in 2015 and included the conduit along the Veterans Way corridor from Carmel Drive to just north of Main Street.
The current closure is expected to last about four weeks and will be limited to daytime hours and some weekends. Access to the public parking lot located south of the Main Street shops will remain open.
City Center Drive & Veterans Way roundabout
The construction of a new roundabout at the intersection of City Center Drive and Veterans Way – in front of Carmel City Center – is underway. The city is working to install new infrastructure as part of the project including storm sewers, water main, sanitary sewer, communications conduit, asphalt pavement, path, lighting and raised crosswalks within the right-of-way.
This project is under a partial road closure with an expected completion date of June 30, 2023. Construction is taking place on City Center Drive between 3rd Avenue SW and Range Line Road. City Center Drive will experience periodic traffic flow restrictions and detours during times of construction.
Driveways will be accessible for local traffic, and the city will work to maintain access throughout the duration of the project.
