The City of Carmel works diligently with consultants, contractors, utilities and others to develop schedules and complete projects in a timely manner. Despite these efforts there are times that delays, conflicts and procurement issues can have impacts to these schedules beyond the city’s control. Your patience is appreciated while the city works to make the roadways safer and more efficient.
116th Street & Range Line Road roundabout
The roundabout is expected to be substantially complete for the public on or after midday Monday, Aug. 22. This means that vehicles will have access to all legs of the roundabout, and it should be functional for the public motorist in all directions.
Work will continue at the intersection and in the right-of-way and is expected to be complete the beginning of October, barring unforeseen circumstances like weather or other delays.
Keystone Parkway & Main Street Bridge
There will be a full closure of the Main Street bridge over Keystone from Aug. 26 to 28 for overlay and resurfacing of the bridge deck. Expect the bridge to close Friday evening and be open to traffic early Monday morning. Keystone Parkway will remain open.
West Smoky Row reconstruction
This project includes the reconstruction of Smoky Row Road west of Range Line Road, including a new bridge over Little Cool Creek. This project has experienced delays, but Smoky Row is expected to be open in December.
The roundabout at the west end is expected to start in September for a 60-day period of work. During this time, local traffic will be maintained, but the roadway will be closed to general public motorist and pedestrians.
Work along this corridor will continue into the spring with a final completion of all plantings and restoration expected in May of 2023.
East Smoky Row slip lane at Keystone Parkway
This work will continue through October with no scheduled closures of the intersection.
106th Street & College Avenue roundabout
On or after Sept. 6, expect a full closure of the intersection for the construction of a roundabout. This 60-day full closure will be substantially complete in November. Running ahead of this project is the multi-use path from Pennsylvania Parkway to College Avenue along 106th Street.
The construction of this path is in the city’s existing right-of-way and should not cause a closure of 106th Street.
