Dear Editor:
In January, I wrote that I would wait and see how President Trump’s actions would affect what I thought about the outcomes of his actions.
I have waited and I have seen.
The President has put forth a string of accomplishments the speed and intensity of which boggle the mind. He has accomplished a great deal of positive steps toward his mantra: “Make America Great Again.” He has overseen closing the border, something we were told during the Biden administration was too difficult to do without legislative action. He has facilitated removal of dangerous migrant criminals. He has led the inspection and oversight of billions of dollars of government waste and fraud.
All good things in my opinion.
Trump has also dabbled in a questionable action or two – the most quizzical being the renaming of the Gulf of Mexico, which I believe might just be an irritating tweaking of the opposition’s nose, but who knows?
Meanwhile, it seems to me that the opposition has been caught without any direction, their only reactions being childish and clumsy attempts at disruption and resetting their image.
I was quite surprised by what just happened this week during Mr. Trump’s address to Congress, where the Dems sat on their hands even during some noteworthy and praise-worthy references to certain accomplishments by the President. One especially grievous occasion was during the announcement of a 13-year-old boy being awarded an honorary position in the Secret Service. Such heartlessness doesn’t play well.
The disruptiveness by the Dems shows that they are unhappy with Trump, which is not a surprise – but they offer nothing to reshape things they are opposed to.
