Carmel reader calls for investigation into allegations of potential bribery

Dear Editor:

Allegations that Fred Glynn, Carmel mayoral candidate and a Hamilton County councilor, was offered a bribe not to run against incumbent Mayor James Brainard must be investigated thoroughly and immediately.

Before rushing to judgment, citizens need to be informed and appropriate legal steps taken.

Rumors about, but facts are hard to come by at Carmel City Hall. If anyone was offering Glynn $140,000 not to run against the mayor in the May 7 municipal primary election, that person needs to be punished.

When an otherwise unremarkable bedroom suburb of a smallish Midwestern American city cannot conduct a squeaky-clean mayoral election, we are in pretty bad shape going forward.

I’ve jokingly referred to myself as an official non-mayor. And, I am. Along with 93,000 other Carmel residents.

Non-mayor or not, I suspect fire when smelling smoke.
