On Tuesday, Carmel Clay School students returned to school. As students arrived, Carmel Police officers were there to welcome them back.

In addition to the extra officers greeting students on the first day, there are four officers assigned to Carmel High School and three officers assigned to the middle schools. These seven officers make up the School Resource Officer (SRO) Unit and each of them focuses on school safety full-time.

This program fosters a very positive relationship with the youth. SROs mentor, educate and serve as a law enforcement officers for all students, staff and administrators in Carmel Clay Schools. This successful community program is an example of how police officers work together with Carmel Clay Schools to make Carmel a safe, caring community.
