At approximately 2:38 a.m. on Wednesday, Carmel police officers were dispatched to a business break-in alarm at the Sprint/T-Mobile store at 890 E. 116th St.
As officers were responding to the area, they discovered a suspicious person looking into the windows of Pinnacle Firearms at 598 W. Carmel Drive. As officers went to investigate the suspicious activity, the subject ran to a car parked in the area and fled the scene.
Officers attempted to stop the vehicle, but the driver refused to stop. The vehicle pursuit terminated in the area of East 116th Street and Eden Estates Drive where the two suspects fled from the vehicle on foot.
After a short foot pursuit, one juvenile suspect was apprehended and taken into custody. The juvenile suspect was found to be in possession of a handgun. Officers attempted to locate the remaining suspect with the assistance of K9 and drones, but that suspect is still at large.
The juvenile apprehended in this case has been charged with the following:
- Unlawful Possession of a Firearm – A Misdemeanor
- Resisting Law Enforcement – A Misdemeanor
