Carmel Police Department to donate plasma

Barlow

Several Carmel Police Department employees have tested positive for COVID-19. All of them have recovered, though most were asymptomatic.

Employees tested positive for the virus were later tested for antibodies. The employees who tested positive for the antibodies decided to donate their plasma in an effort to help those most severely affected by COVID-19.

“We are in a unique position to help those suffering from COVID-19,” said Police Chief Jim Barlow. “Through extensive testing, we were able to identify employees who have the much-needed antibodies. As a group, we decided to donate plasma to help in the fight against COVID-19. CPD is proud of its employees and the good work they do every day.”

Officers and civilian employees who tested positive for the COVID-19 antibodies will donate plasma at Versiti Blood Bank Thursday morning.
