Carmel police apprehend man who allegedly fired gun indiscriminately into business

At 4:20 a.m. Wednesday, Carmel police responded to multiple calls of gunshots in the area of Main Street and 1st Avenue NW.

Upon arrival, officers discovered one male victim inside a business at 110 W. Main St. with a gunshot wound to his leg. Officers and medics from the Carmel Fire Department rendered aid to the victim and he was transported to the hospital for treatment. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

Through the course of the investigation, officers discovered a male subject that had been walking outside in the area, when he began to fire a gun indiscriminately into the building. That individual was found in the area shortly after the incident and taken into custody by Carmel police officers. He has been identified as Moses Shoaga, 25, Indianapolis. He has been charged with the following:

  • Criminal Recklessness – Level 5 Felony
  • Carrying a Handgun Without a License – A Misdemeanor
