On June 14, the Carmel Police Department officially welcomed five new police officers. The officers were sworn in during a ceremony at the Carmel Police Department Headquarters.
Zachary Sherron
Zachary Sherron is a graduate of Franklin Central High School in 2007. He then attended Cedarville University in Cedarville, Ohio, where he obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering in 2012. He joined the San Antonio Texas Police Department in 2013 and worked in the Street Crimes Unit prior to coming to Carmel PD.
Andrew Longyear
Andrew Longyear graduated from Terre Haute South Vigo High School in 2008. He then went on to graduate from Indiana State University in 2019 with a BA in Criminology and Criminal Justice. Prior to joining Carmel PD, he had been a deputy with the Clay County Sheriff’s Office since 2016.
Patrick Murphy
Patrick Murphy graduated from George Rogers Clark High School, in Whiting, Ind., in 2014. He then went on to obtain his Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice in May 2018 from Indiana University-Bloomington and went through the IUPD cadet program. Before coming to Carmel PD, he had worked as a full time Patrol Officer at Munster Police Department since May 2018.
Pablo Navarrete
Pablo Navarrete graduated from Emmerich Manual High School in 2006. He then attended college at Indiana University in Bloomington from 2006 until 2009. He was employed as a police officer with the Indianapolis Metro Police Department (IMPD) where he had worked since November 2011. His was assigned to NW District as a uniform officer prior to coming to Carmel PD.
Ana Vazquez
Ana graduated from Highland High School in Highland, Ind., in 2014. After high school, she attended Indiana University and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice in May 2018 and went through the Indiana University Police Department (IUPD) Cadet Program. Prior to joining Carmel PD, she had worked as a full-time police officer with the Indiana University Police Department on the Bloomington Campus since 2020. She also worked with IUPD part time from August 2017 until December 2019 as well as Bloomington PD from June 2018 until February 2019.
