For the second year in a row, a data-driven survey by Niche.com has named Carmel the “Best Place to Live in America.” Niche, a website designed to help people discover schools and neighborhoods that are right for them, collects millions of data points to analyze and create its rankings.
Niche’s team of data scientists and engineers provide research to assist individuals and families who are making an educated decision about where to live. Carmel received the same honor in 2017, as well as in previous years from other publications, such as CNN Money Magazine.
“These rankings are important because they are seen by millions of people across the country,” said Mayor Jim Brainard. “It helps Carmel earn recognition as people are searching for a place to live that is safe, has good schools and a variety of recreational and entertainment options. We want our employers and our future corporate headquarters to know that we are attracting the best and brightest workforce in the Midwest.”
The 2018 Best Places to Live ranking by Niche provides a comprehensive assessment of the overall livability of an area. This grade takes into account several key factors of a location, including the quality of local schools, crime rates, housing trends, employment statistics and access to amenities in an attempt to measure the overall quality of an area.
